Krystof Witek has been concertmaster of the Greenwich Symphony since 2003. Born in Poland, he came to the U.S. in 1987 to attend the Juilliard School of Music, where he studied with Joseph Fuchs and received his Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral degrees. Winner of the 1992 Artists International Solo and Chamber Ensemble (1993) Auditions in New York, he has appeared as soloist and chamber musician in Europe, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, and the United States. Concertmaster engagements include the Fairfield County Chorale in Norwalk, the Stamford Symphony, New Choral Society of Westchester, Greenwich Choral Society, the Jupiter Symphony, and the New York Symphonic Ensemble. Avid freelancer, he has appeared with the MET Opera Orchestra under James Levine and Simon Rattle, NYC Ballet, NYC Opera, NY Chamber Symphony under Gerard Schwartz, the Little Orchestra Society, the Mostly Mozart Orchestra, and the New York Pops. His solo CD features works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Lutoslawski. He has played in several Broadway shows, and since 2002 has been in The Lion King orchestra.
