Dear Greenwich Symphony Orchestra Patrons,
We are all looking forward to when we can return to live in-person performances, but in the meantime we have exciting news we can share about the future of the GSO. Our Music Director Search Committee has spent the past year involved in the difficult task of finding a successor for our beloved conductor, David Gilbert, who will retire at the end of this season. Our group of seven musicians and six board members has worked for the past 13 months to look at more than 180 conductors from around the world who wanted to join our orchestra.
I am thrilled to announce that we have selected five conductors to stand in front of our orchestra during
the 2021-2022 season. All have highly regarded careers and have served as music directors of many
varied orchestras, and we believe that each of them has what it takes to be our next music director.
I would add my personal thanks for the exceptional work of the musicians leading this process. Their professionalism, thoroughness, and the collaboration with the board has been exemplary. We all look forward to an exciting future for the GSO.
