Haydn and Mozart (grades 4-5)
Do you know that Haydn and Mozart were friends, or that before the age of five Mozart had mastered the piano and violin, composed his first piece of music, and performed for royalty? Are you aware that it is not known whether Mozart’s father or Haydn wrote the funny Toy Symphony? At this concert, you will learn about this curious piece, and be dazzled by Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto and Mozart’s A Little Night Music. You will be captivated by Mozart’s hauntingly beautiful melodies in his Symphony No. 40 and learn how he was able to paint a comic and dramatic musical picture of one of his favorite characters, Don Giovanni. Join the Greenwich Symphony as we perform the music of Haydn and Mozart!
