Praised by critics for his exceptional musical insight and artistry, William Yang gained international recognition after winning Sixth Prize at the 2025 International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. He also captured First Prize at the 2025 National Chopin Piano Competition, where he received special awards for Best Mazurka and Best Sonata.
William has performed at major venues including the Warsaw Philharmonic, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Seoul Arts Center, Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, and Osaka Symphony Hall. As a soloist, he has appeared with orchestras including the Warsaw Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra.
A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and a former Kovner Fellow at The Juilliard School, William studied with Robert McDonald and previously with Alexander Korsantia and Paul Wirth. He has also worked with distinguished artists including Yoheved Kaplinsky, Gary Graffman, Richard Goode, and André Watts.
Now emerging as one of the most promising pianists of his generation, William is recognized for performances of remarkable refinement, depth, and authenticity.
